Amber Beverage Group (ABG), the fast-growing global spirits company, has announced a significant milestone in the development of its automated, high-bay warehouse development in the Freeport of Riga, Latvia. Earlier this year the company secured EUR 30 million bonds to construct the building whose foundations are now nearing completion, a full month earlier than scheduled.

The near completion of the foundations for this internationally significant building means that work can now begin on creating the warehouse building for the automated pallet racking system and the conveyor system area, a significant part of the 24,000 sq.m., fully automated logistics centre. When commissioned, in April 2025, the warehouse and logistics centre will increase Group’s warehouse capacity by around 30%, from 25,000 pallets to 35,000 pallets.

The completion of 85% of the first phase of the project was marked with a ceremony led by Arturs Evarts, Board Member at Amber Beverage Group; Sandris Apsītis, Chairman of the Board of Aimasa, the main construction partner; and Lada Kaļiņina, General Manager for the Baltic States division of Jungheinrich, which is providing the state-of-the-art technology worth EUR 15 million.

Arturs Evarts, Board Member at Amber Beverage Group, said: “Amber Beverage Group is building a state-of-the-art, automated warehouse in collaboration with the construction company Aimasa, powered by Jungheinrich’s advanced equipment. This facility will serve as the company's global logistics hub, enhancing services for partners and customers across over 160 countries through advanced automation and driving efficiencies. The initiative reflects our commitment to cutting-edge technology and streamlined operations in the realm of international logistics.”

At the heart of the celebration was a time capsule which has been embedded in the foundations containing Memorandum of Collaboration between the three main parties involved; jokes about warehousing, logistics, business and the beverage sector, to implant a positive team spirit and atmosphere in the building; and artefacts to imbue greatness, including a piece of jewelry adorned with the ABG name, some gold dust, and amber, reflecting the name of the company.

Arturs Evarts said: “We are delighted that the development process for this important, state-of-the-art warehouse is ahead of schedule. I commend the teamwork of our construction partners in accomplishing a difficult task. This development marks a cornerstone for the Group's long-term productivity and competitive advantage, fortifying our regional standing and providing a secure foundation for expanded international operations and sustained business growth in the years ahead.”
