Amber Beverage Group (ABG) will begin production of hand sanitiser, VIRUDES, from its Latvijas balzams factory in Latvia this week. ABG will create a hand sanitiser based on the World Health Organisation’s recommended formula to help deal with the current shortage of disinfectants. Amber Beverage Group will be making the product available to major retail chains and also plans to produce enough to supply hospitals and other institutions where hand sanitiser supplies are low.
VIRUDES is alcohol-based and will be available in 4 litre volumes, which can then be transferred into smaller containers. The product’s name, VIRUDES, combines both “virus” and “disinfection”. The hand sanitiser will be in a gel form rather than a liquid and the disinfectant will contain 70% alcohol. Although the disinfectant will contain high levels of alcohol, it cannot be used orally due to the technological aids it contains.
The Latvijas balzams factory produces four of Amber Beverage Group’s six key brands including, Riga Black Balsam®, Moskovskaya® Vodka, Cross Keys Gin® and Cosmopolitan Diva®.
Pepijn Janssens, CMO of Amber Beverage Group says: “We are working hard to ensure our hand sanitiser is available to purchase as soon as possible to help reduce the spread of Coronavirus. Amber Beverage Group has a company policy of speed in everything that we do and we are working towards a quick response to help increase the amount of hand sanitiser for those who really need it.”
“The rapid spread of the Coronavirus throughout the world has affected several companies and we at Amber Beverage Group have set up a crisis management team to provide up-to-date information to employees. We have taken measures including offering alternative work practices such as working from home, dramatically reducing staff international travel and providing protective clothing and accessories such as masks and gloves to employees, where necessary. Although we are facing a number of challenges, we are doing our best to ensure continuity of business and service for our clients.”
